Research
Trusted Platforms and System Architectures
One major focus is the security mechanisms for IoT platforms that remain secure even under hostile and potentially insecure operating conditions. This includes research on:
- Embedded systems and IoT devices that operate under strict resource and energy constraints
- Security architecture for AI workloads
- Security architecture with hardware support
AI for Security
The research group is exploring how artificial intelligence can be used to design security services that are more intelligent and adaptive. In particular, the research includes:
- Intelligent software with self-healing capabilities for the early detection of attacks and system malfunctions
- Binary analysis and vulnerability detection in software
- Identification and isolation of security-critical code
Security of AI Systems
In addition to applying AI to enhance security services, the group also investigates how AI systems themselves can be made more robust and trustworthy. The research focuses on:
- Protection against targeted manipulation and backdoor attacks
- Watermarking techniques for protecting data and machine learning models
- Resilience of the safety alliance mechanism
