LSF: Ethical Hacking Lab

 

Description:

The Ethical Hacking Lab course provides a practice-oriented introduction to network security, covering popular attack techniques, common vulnerabilities, and corresponding defense mechanisms. The lab is interleaved with Cisco Netacad, allowing participants to obtain the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Security certification by passing an additional external examination.

The practicum is divided into two parts. First, the theoretical part is provided all semester long and offers an overview of network security and its technical basics.  It covers key topics such as penetration testing methodology, vulnerability analysis, social engineering attacks, as well as security in cloud, mobile, and IoT environments. This part must be completed online and serves as a prerequisite for the lab sessions. The second part is a lab session part that focuses on hands-on offensive security and dives into the security of networks, and services. Students need to qualify for the second part by passing a theory exam.
